Dance Along the Nile
Kashmir's Coffeehouse Revisited - again

Join Kashmir, her students and special guests Farida and Yurie, as with the clash of zills and the swirl of veils they journey from Christchurch to Egypt to enjoy a range of dance. In addition to the expected raqs sharqi (aka "belly dance", aka "Orientale") in bras and belts, there will be a number of Egyptian folk styles as below. If you don't what these look like come along to the Harbour Light and see for yourself.
Performances will include:
- belly dance - Orientale, veils, and drum solos
- raqs beledi - belly dance with no belly showing - but lots of attitude
- raqs sa`iidi - dance from the south of Egypt - with sticks and canes
- Nubian from the far south of Egypt
- Khaleegy - spectacle of the thobe el-neshel (big dresses) in rainbow colours
- Folkloric - Hagalla - choreography by Mohamed Kazafy
No video cameras or videoing in the show, please.

Food is to be paid for at the bar and then you will be shown your table.
Non-booked tickets seated as they arrive in non reserved tables - or on stools.
The Harbour Light has a fully licensed bar with a full range of alcohol and non-alcohol beverages. Light meals and snack platters also available. No BYO.
